MISSION: The Stepping Stones Foundation fosters public understanding of alcoholism and inspires recovery by preserving and sharing the historic home, archive, and legacy of Bill and Lois Wilson, cofounders, respectively, of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon Family Groups.

The Stepping Stones Foundation was founded in 1979 as a privately-run tax-exempt nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization (Federal ID # 13-3031164). The Foundation operates, preserves and shares with the public the National Historic Landmark home and archive in Katonah, New York, which is located an hour north of NYC in the Town of Bedford, Westchester County. The Foundation offers opportunities to explore the Wilsons’ history, legacy, and the beloved home where they lived and worked from 1941 until their deaths in 1971 and 1988, respectively. Donations from individuals and organizations, including planned gifts, gifts of stock, and more, help maintain, preserve, and provide access to the site and archive.
