Bill W. at Wit’s End
This picture shows Bill Wilson in 1957 in front of his humble little writing studio on the hill. He built what he referred to as “The Shack” with the help of an A.A. friend around 1948.
Inside the studio you are invited to sit and take photos at the desk where Bill crafted many chapters of Alcoholics Anonymous and several works since purchasing the desk from Hank Parkhurst. You will also find an original stock certificate of Work’s Publishing Co. signed by Ruth Hock. The walls are also covered with remembrances of Bill’s spiritual adviser Father Ed Dowling, his dear Friend and fellow A.A. cofounder Dr. Robert Holbrook Smith (Dr. Bob), and framed versions of the Serenity Prayer in many languages.
