Welcome Center

Stepping Stones was the Wilsons’ residence from 1941 for the remainder of their lives. Bill wrote to Dr. Bob Smith, “the best thing about this place is it is going to be a real retreat, well away from all this A.A. business.”  However, throughout their active lives filled with 12-Step work, Bill and Lois almost always had someone living with them to sober up or get back on their feet.

Next to the home is the Welcome Center where tours begin and end. Originally built by Bill as a two-car garage, nowadays it has a display based on Stepping Stones Archive, which features Bill and Lois Wilsons’ writings and photos and the original map used by Bill W. to follow the early growth of Alcoholics Anonymous across the United States.
