Share the Legacy of the Wilsons with Friends Through a Short Play Reading

Present a 30- to 50-Minute Play Reading Based on Bill & Lois Wilsons' Letters

“Today was a hard one. The pressure was great. Thank heaven you will never know what real alcoholism is like,” wrote a despairing 34-year-old Bill Wilson to his wife, Lois, as they battled Bill’s debilitating alcoholism. This is just a glimpse at one of hundreds of letters the Wilsons wrote to each other in a 60-year love story that helped give birth to Twelve-Step recovery.  The historical letters and recordings in the Stepping Stones Foundation Archives are the basis for three presentations that bring the true story of Bill and Lois Wilsons’ journey to life using their own words. The original 110-minute play, In Their Own Words: Bill & Lois Wilson, sparked the making of two new short plays that will begin to be made available in late 2020 for readings of 25-30 and 45-50-minutes in length. These short play readings do not require complicate staging, props, or costumes making them perfect for amateur or professional readings and presentations at group or individual anniversaries, events, picnics, conferences, round-ups, retreats, young peoples' programs, or other in-person gatherings. A licensing fee for a single presentation makes it possible for event organizers to receive scripts and other materials enabling volunteer actors / readers to produce a moving and memorable presentation.
